All In The (Kennedy) Family

This didn't take long.

Ted Kennedy has made clear to confidants that when his time is up, he wants his Senate seat to stay in the family - with his wife, Vicki.

"There's no question that he'd like Vicki to continue in his seat," said one Massachusetts Democrat with ties to the Camelot clan who spoke to Kennedy recently, before his health crisis.

"She's smart, and smart politically."

Well, that's a relief.

Remember how the left complained about 12 years of the Bush family, eight years of Clinton (with the prospect of at least four more), and now it's time for change? Is anyone going to ask why that doesn't apply to Kennedys?

I just did.

Stealing The Election (For Real)

My ears are starting to hurt from the slow crescendo of whining from those on the left, now complaining that Hillary seeks to do the very thing they falsely (no evidence to date) accused Republicans of in 2000…

Hillary Clinton's rhetoric today about counting the results in Florida and Michigan is simply incredible. Her speech compares discounting the Florida and Michigan primaries to vote suppression and slavery:

She said "there's a reason why so many have fought so hard and sacrificed so much. It's because they knew that to be a citizen of this country is to have the right and responsibility to help shape its future. Not just to have your voice heard but to have it count. People have fought hard because they knew their vote was at stake and so was their children's futures."

The shock and awe displayed by The New Republic's Jonathan Chait is truly humorous.

I can really feel his pain…

I was really hurt about it at first. I am way over being hurt. This was cold-blooded, calculated, manipulated and a revolting strategy.
Bill Clinton, on the suggestion that the Clinton campaign ever played the race card against Sen. Barack Obama

"Really hurt".

A laughable comment considering race-baiting is Democrat standard operating procedure against Republicans.

Madonna arrives on the red carpet at the 61st Cannes Film Festival May 21, 2008.

This appears to be one of those pics Reuters should have Photoshopped.

BTW— Madonna's 'STICKY & SWEET TOUR' begins in August.
Something about a 50-year-old woman and the words "sticky" and "sweet" just ain't right….

Maureen Dowd's Political Ulcer

It's really fun watching the left pull their own diseased insides out over this Obama-Clinton "race"…

“Hillary, I don’t trust you. And Michelle hates your guts. Look, the Senate is a wonderful place. I enjoyed my two months there. You’ve never made the most of the experience because you were so busy using it as a launching pad.”

“Back at ya, Skeletor.”

“Can you stop talking, Hillary? Is that even possible?”
Maureen Dowd, NY Times columnist, on "The Last Debate"

Ahhh, the bleeding heart hate machine strikes again.

Obama's Manufactured Rock Star Status

Remember the pictures of Obama and the multitudes in Portland last Sunday? The imagery made Barack out to be some kind of Jesus-like figure, bringing the masses together from far and wide…

But let's not forget with whom we're dealing with here. Barack is clearly the objective media's chosen one. But it takes more than Obama to bring 72,000 liberals together in one place.

Knowing these people as we do, something free…?

During remarks to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts' 2008 graduating class and their guests last Saturday,

And I think it's too bad George Bush and Dick Cheney can't take classes here and learn about those particular issues, but I spoke to the dean of admissions, who told me neither one had the grades to get in.
Senator John Kerry, after he "noted the school's efforts to fight global warming and sustainability"

Note to the Dean of Admissions at MCLA: President Bush WAS accepted to Harvard, and Vice President Cheney WAS accepted to Yale. And knowing John Kerry as we do, the aforementioned conversation probably never happened.

Then again, who needs to get into some obscure Western Massachusetts liberal arts state college when you can repeatedly charm and marry rich women?

That's not demeaning, is it Senator?

A Sense Of Urgency

(Note: I wrote this Sunday night.)

When you get older, you find yourself looking with disdain upon the generation that follows. It's only natural - that is, unless you're one of those who buy into the George Benson or Whitney Houston versions of "The Greatest Love of All" and all that "the children are our future" fluff. When you grow up being told how wonderful you are, and have politicians declare their actions are solely for you, it's no wonder they grow up believing they are entitled to everything we have to offer.

I'm not buying it.

I "kicked" my son out tonight.

Spike Vs. Eastwood

In an obvious attempt to garner some Cannes buzz for his new movie Miracle at St. Anna, Spike Lee decided to tear down someone else. According to London's Times Online,

The Oscar-nominated African-American director, one of the most influential figures in contemporary cinema, said that black soldiers were conspicuous by their absence from Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima. Hundreds took part in the battle for the Japanese island in 1945.

Lee said: “There were many African-Americans who survived that war and who were upset at Clint for not having one [in the films]. That was his version: the negro soldier did not exist. I have a different version.”

He was speaking at a press conference in Cannes, where he gave the world premiere of an eight-minute trailer for his latest feature film, a war drama with which he hopes to set the record straight.

Maybe Lee is still hasn't let go of the fact that Tri-Star picked Edward Zwick to direct "Glory", which went on to receive lots of awards and critical acclaim, while Spike Lee is still only an Oscar-nominated director.
